Every summer the Slavic American Cultural Association is
presenting a spectacular and free professional concert of Polish
and Slavic music, dance and songs as part of the Morgan Park
Summer Festival in Glen Cove L.I., NY. This year's concert will
take place on Sunday, September 12 at 7:00pm. The harbor and Long
Island Sound is a spectacular backdrop for the evening
entertainment.
This free concert is widely attended by thousands
of people from everywhere. People of all ages enjoy this splendid
musical evening in an idyllic setting under the stars.The well
know Polish String Quartet "Slavic Arts Ensemble" will open
the program with ALL-CHOPIN's selected masterpieces arranged
for Strings and Voice by Mieczys?aw Gubernat; mazurkas, waltzes,
nocturnes, preludes, fantasie-impromptu, etudes and songs
will be performed by Marta Wryk - mezzosoprano, Krzysztof Kuznik
and Mieczyslaw Gubernat - violins, Maurycy Banaszek - viola
and Marta Bedkowska - cello. Marge Fitts - harp with
Patrick Dillery - flute will play works by Dvorak, Wieniawski,
Debussy, Ibert, Bernstein and "Two Guitars", "Dark Eyes",
"Sunset Sunrise". The spectacular dancers from the "Barynya"
Folk Ensemble will perform Russian, Ukrainian, Gypsy, Cossack,
Siberian and Jewish traditional dances, music and songs
on balalaika, garmoshka and guitar. Their program will include
Kalinka, Hopak, Kazachok, Bottle dance and other selections.
